John Mccain wimps out on Barack Obama's debate challenge

Description: "Barack Obama offered to meet John McCain at five joint appearances between now and Election Day—the three traditional debates plus a joint town hall on the economy in July and an in-depth debate on foreign policy in August. That package of five engagements would have been the most of any Presidential campaign in the modern era—offering a broad range of formats—and representing a historic commitment to openness and transparency. "It's disappointing that Senator McCain and his campaign decided to decline this proposal. Apparently they would rather contrive a political issue than foster a genuine discussion about the future of our country. "Senator Obama believes that the American people deserve an open and accessible debate as they choose between real change and four more years of failed Bush policies, and he welcomed McCain's invitation to offer voters 'the rare opportunity of witnessing candidates for the highest office in the land discuss civilly and extensively the great issues at stake in the election,'" said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe. http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_stump/archive/2008/06/13/mccain-rejects-obama-s-semi-stingy-joint-forum-offer.aspx

GO MCCAIN! Obama will lose by a landslide based on his friends who are radical anti- American terrorists such as Bill Ayres, Bernadine Dohrn ,George Soros, Farrakhan, Reverend Jerry Wright. Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are! Michelle Obama is not proud to be an AMERICAN and the loving mother who supports INFANTICIDE!! I wonder what her children would think of her and the LOSER OBAMA supporting leaving a live newborn to die on a shelf. He is a sick ruthless man

Barack has been a public servant for 12 years...(Same as your Reagan by the way) He has way more education under his belt than Palin or Mcain could handle.... The one great quality that Barack has is that he is humble. He also understands the struggles we're going through.Unlike Mccain who still hasn't described how he's gonna help us americans.Maybe he'll give me one of his seven houses that he owns which he paid for with the money the lobbyists are giving him.

Mccain 08' is the way to go!

obama would never back out from a debate!!!!!!!! hey! did you see that video clip wherein mccain was asked of his opinion about abortion and he stared blankly obviously grasping for answers for about 20 seconds and later told the reporter he will try to discuss later?? oh yes! i forgot!!! he simply talks about being a POW!!the war... but does being a POW mccains best asset to this campaign! and ranked 894 out of 899 while he was in naval academy???

mcnugget has never served in a infantry regitment. he was a pilot. big difference

Need to get your facts straight. McCain has been wanting to debate Obama for months. Obama has been running from this all along. It appears he's scared or he feels he's got it in the bag and he doesn't need to. We'll its a long way from over. Why want Obama Debate???

HAHAH ! If you want to quarrel over spelling and grammer "DUMBASS" isn't a word. You go vote McCain and ruin your poor little life

his name is McCain DUMBASS

studdder , this guy cracks me studdddder boy

freemarketusa-What extraordinary amount of character did Bush show that made you vote for him. Why would any person take the advice of a person that voted for Bush twice. Your ability to see leadership qualities is scary. How does Palin have more experience than Obama? McCain's experience is based on time alive and not substance. All experience is not good experience. You Bush voters did not care about McCain's experience in 2k.

jjasper2010-No, Obama did not wimp out. McCain and Obama could not agree on a number that they both wanted. McCain's challenge was his attempt to make Obama do what he wants and Obama was not going for that.

Please keep in mind that Palin has more experience than Obama. We vote primarily for the top of the ticket. Obama ran on change, but has never demonstrated a single instance of execution. The few bills that he did manage to attach his name to were for political reasons and did not take any extraordinary amount of character to support. I am amazed at the lack of evidence required by Obama's supporters. Let's all demand more of all candidates....both sides.

Obama doesn't have any specific policy vision. He has followed the Saul Alinsky's strategy. The first part is to agitate, which he demonstrates every time he tells you how bad we have it. He won't debate McCain like a candidate of integrity should. Obama's distortion of McCain's policy statements is constant and disturbing. I would love to see them debate and Obama prove me wrong. The debate forum suggested by Obama is not one of dialogue by posturing.

I can't beileve people like you, Macaine hardly knows his own views on each subject but obama does ! Don't you want health care ? , or the troops home ?, or to safe the enviroment ?,or even to change anything in goverment because you will pretty much get the same as bush ! NO Mcaine, no way, not ever! Obama - Biden 08

This is a absolute lie. Obama has never negotiated town hall debates. He has never once entertained the thought and has run from it since May. Obama would never win a head to head debate he know's it. Saddleback interview proves this. Prepare yourselfs for a very disappointing next few month. The hype is over. NObama, no way, not ever. McCain - Palin 08

We now know who would rather win an election than win the war in Iraq. McCain put gender to win a few votes over the security of our country. A VP that's never been on the national stage and no foreign policy experience? "a heart beat away from the oval office" takes on an increased urgency if the one in the oval office is 72. If we compare the two VP picks McCain loses the "good judgement" test.

Didn't McCain challenge Obama to a series of 6-9 debates that Obama wimped out on?

McCain stated that you have to earn 5 million a year to be considered rich, which is pure bs. Obama's tax plan will not benefit major coorporations and the already wealthy but 90% of the American people will have a better shot at a life of opportunity. So the choice should be quite clear.

has, and people say we should mimic the Europeans multiple party system. A reason Bush won in 2004 was that the democratic party didn't even want Kerry to win. They ran him as an empty suit, and Kerry ran that campaign in a half-assed way too. It was set up to run Hillary in 08, and it backfired. If you want jobs to stay in this country, don't raise, but lower the taxes that companies get hit with. Which party wants lower taxes???

McCain isn't better than Bush. Bush at least led a state and made decisions up or down. McCain being a senator has been one of 100 people. Voting records are killers for senators going for the presidency. I actually wanted Allan Keys back in 2000. I wish Bush was better with his agenda in shrinking government and cutting spending. In terms of McCain going along with Bush's agenda it's no big deal. European countries with their 20 party systems have stronger voting ties to their party than McCain

I'll even say this, when we pull out of both countries, we should pull out of everywhere. We can bring everyone home, and we can let the world go to shit. While we're at it, we can pull our foreign aid too, and put that money into our own country. Also scrrew Africa with their aids crisis. We can save money there too. We did what we did to make that region better. Let it finish, and let it heal, and time will tell if it was really worth it.

As for the war, we took out a madman who supported terrorism. A man who thumbed his nose at the UN for years, and who knows what he would have done had he not been stopped. We've also been in Afghanistan this whole time too, doing what's needed there too. We don't hear much from either place, and I still remember 9-11, and to go after those responsible, and the allies of terrorism I glad. I don't care if they hate us for it cuz they hated us before and will hate us long after.

Maybe if we had state and local governments that were worried more about the care of the state or city instead of being liked enough to be re-elected, the funds would be used better. New Orleans could have been working on upgrading their levee system for years, decades, before katrina hit. Instead it was ill maintained, but I'm sure the welfare programs had enough money to fund lazy assholes. New Orleans was a product of libral government on the local and state level.

Oil isn't the only thing that gets a butt load of subsidies. If it gets restructured and has little impact on costs, go for it. However, open up every area for drilling in this country to ensure prices stay low. Also, get rid of the ethenol subsidies that keep that waste out of our pockets. As for infrastructure, if we allocated funds wisly at the federal level, and then at the state level, maybe we'd have bridges and levees at 100%.

Barry (that's his "real" name by the way) will not win..once they debate and the fringe/independant/undecided people see where he stands on taxes (you make over 101k you are rich according to Obabma), socializing medicine (I don't want to pay for other peoples doctor bill do you?), and his generally flaming liberal decisions = he will start to slide in the polls and not end up winning. McCain is clearly the better choice here.
